School has just started and I already have parents asking me if their kid can have extra credit. What am I supposed to tell these people so early in the year? I'm just grading the first paper the kids have had to hand in and already the extra credit is an issue. Unbelievable.
Although one parent said their kid was more of a talented screen writer then a essay writer. Maybe I'll see if the kid has real dedication and make it him write a screen play off of a movie. If he takes the time to do that, I can throw him an extra point or two.
But some parents, jeez. I had one parent tell me "wouldn't you do anything for your kids?" to which of course I replied, "I wouldn't know, I'm not a father." She stayed quiet very quickly after, then launched into a whole series of, "well one day you'll know. take my word for it," and so on.
I stayed up last night trying to grade all these papers and it didn't work out so well. I must still be tired because looking at the small paragraphs I just wrote, the grammar and punctuation... not so great.
